Full Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for a versatile Building Services Technician to join our friendly facilities team in the Department of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience, providing an efficient and reliable service to our buildings located in central Cambridge.

The role holder will provide day to day maintenance across our two buildings which consist of laboratories, classrooms, offices and lecture theatres. The role holder will support the team with planned and reactive maintenance of our buildings to ensure the provision of a safe, legal and compliant working environment. This will include the maintenance and monitoring of heating, plumbing, and ventilation systems, dealing with gas canisters, general building infrastructure repairs, assisting with the installation of equipment, electrical testing and portering. The role will also include work which could be part of a refurbishment or remodelling and would include painting, carpentry, metal work and the installation of electrical and cabling trunking.

The successful candidate will have good organisational and prioritising skills, as well as excellent problem solving and fault finding skills. A flexible working approach is a must and you should have good interpersonal, team-working and customer service skills. You will have experience in a maintenance role, and whilst experience in a University or laboratory environment would be advantageous, it is not essential and training will be given.
