Full Job Description

Thanet District Council are looking for an enthusiastic, conscientious and motivated individual to lead our Building Control Department.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our successful, efficient and experienced Building Control Team. The role will enable personal development for the right person as you take forward the service, increasing our market share whilst maintaining existing business and standards.

We seek an experienced Building Control officer with strong professional and management skills. As a Chartered professional (MRICS, MCABE, MCIOB, MIStructE) you will already be validated as or working towards validation as a Building Safety Regulator Class 2 general Building Inspector. You should bring solid construction industry experience and knowledge of Building Regulations, as well as be able to demonstrate experience in dealing with complex and high-risk projects, supervising and mentoring staff, and the ability to make pragmatic decisions. You will be an effective leader with a clear vision, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work under pressure and prioritise your workload. The ability to develop good partnerships is important. You will be working in a progressive organisation with customer-focused services and must be able to communicate and facilitate effective working with a wide range of customers.
