Full Job Description

This is a residency aimed at botanical artists at any stage in their career who like to work with and be inspired by the environment of our Walled Garden.

We are interested in hearing from botanical artists who would like to work with and be inspired by the natural environment of our Walled Garden. With accommodation onsite, the residency will provide uninterrupted time and space to create work which is detailed and ambitious.

This residency is fully-funded and includes accommodation, studio space, and a weekly stipend of £350.

The residency dates are 15th July to 10th August 2024.

There are no expectations about what you will use the residency for but we would expect the selected artist to conduct at least one public event such as a creative workshop (for adult participants), a talk, demonstration, performance or educational activity. You will be able to spend time with our garden team and other visual artists and makers on site, along with another visiting artist also on residency.

Our Creative Director, Dr James Fox and our Head Gardener, Toby Loveday will provide mentorship during your stay.

Useful Info:
The Marchmont Estate is situated in a rural area with very little public transport. A car is recommended during your stay but is not essential.
All bed linens and towels are provided
Accommodation is fully self catering
Groceries can be delivered to the Estate by supermarkets in Berwick Upon Tweed
