Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist in our busy Biochemistry Department, part of the Blood Sciences Laboratory at 'The Halo Building' in Central London. This is a rotational role, including Automated Biochemistry and Manual Biochemistry covering specialist biochemistry assays. Some Haematology training will also be involved in this role.
Our comprehensive Automated Blood Science department is an exciting state of the art laboratory connected to other departments via our GLP track system, which is unique in it's scale and spans over multiple floors.
The main analysers in the laboratory are Roche Cobas 8000, Abbott Architect, Tosoh G11, Diasorin Liason, OC-Sensor Pledia, Sysmex, Sebia, , Bioplex and Phadia.
The Manual Chemistry department provides a wide variety of investigations using advanced instrumentation and methodologies covering proteins, mass spectrometry, trace metals, and calculi analyses. In addition we provide Supraregional Assay Services for steroid and lipid investigations.
We take great pride in our contribution towards patient care, development in new techniques as well as transferring skills and expertise to future scientists.

Interested candidates must be HCPC registered and expected to demonstrate experience in a wide variety of clinical biochemistry techniques. Candidates with less experience and newly registered (HCPC) candidates, or candidates who have completed their registration portfolio and awaiting assessment, will also be considered. Based on knowledge, skill and experience, they will be placed on an equivalent pay scale. Working hours are 37.5 per week.
You will need to be self-motivated, innovative, flexible, reliable and have good interpersonal skills as well as having the ability to use your own initiative and take responsibility for one's own work and those of others less qualified.
