Full Job Description

As a nursing assistant you will provide invaluable support to ward teams and help with direct patient care, which might include:
+ Measuring and observing the physical characteristics/condition of patients, including temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, peak flows and weight
+ Assisting patients with the maintenance of their personal and oral hygiene, including washing/bathing, mouth and dental care, hair-washing, nail care, shaving and dressing/undressing
+ Assisting patients to eat and drink as per their care plan, identifying, recording and reporting abnormal dietary and fluid intake
+ Assisting patients with mobility, using safe manual handling techniques
+ Assisting patients to use toilet facilities.
If you are successful in your application, you will be required to take part in an induction programme in order to achieve the required competencies for the Care Certificate which is a nationally recognised qualification! You will be assigned to a ward/department area and the aim is that you will achieve the Care Certificate within the first twelve weeks of your employment with the Trust.

Care Certificate
If you are successful in your application, you will be required to take part in an induction programme in order to achieve the required competencies for the Care Certificate which is a nationally recognised qualification!
You will be booked onto Healthcare Support Worker induction program. This is in-house training running for 2 weeks. As part of the induction program, you will be booked for 2 shadow shifts and will be assigned to the ward/department to complete your Care Certificate.
The aim is that you will achieve the Care Certificate and relevant competencies within the first twelve weeks of your employment with the Trust.
