Full Job Description

We have opportunities for General Practitioners to join our staff bank at Wirral Community Trusts, GP out of hours service .

There are a variety of flexible bank shifts available for our GP led service which provides primary care consultations, assessment and treatment on the phone or face to face. The face to face consultations may be at the centre or on a home visit to the patients home or temporary residence.

Provide comprehensive and competent assessment, advice and treatment for primary care problems following relevant guidance where appropriate

Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all consultations

Make appropriate referrals to secondary care or other agencies when appropriate.

Work collaboratively and supportively with other health care professionals.

Advise patients of the scope and limitations of the service and direct them to other services where appropriate.

Prescribe according to national and local evidence based guidelines.

Maintain appropriate professional standards as defined nationally by General Medical Council and with relevant locally agreed standards

In addition to the duties listed above:
Maintain skills and knowledge relevant to primary care in these settings.

Attend appropriate educational events to maintain or develop skills essential to working in these services.

Review and amend CPD needs according to experience, clinical incidents, difficult cases etc

Maintain adherence to GP appraisal and revalidation

Include PCD work in PDP

Ensure knowledge of, and compliance with, appropriate policies, procedures and guidelines.

Ensure that an appropriate balance is struck between commitment to these services and other professional commitments so that good clinical standards are maintained.

Participate in significant event analysis, audit, or other meetings as appropriate, such as GPOOH forums.

Be aware of and adhere to GMC guidance at all times

PCD services operate on National Holidays. Therefore, GPs may be required to work some Bank Holidays.

As much notice, as possible, usually a week, should be provided should any GP need to cancel a shift

If the service becomes stretched for whatever reason (e.g., a flu epidemic) GPs may be requested to cover extra hours
