Full Job Description

To provide well prepared and presented food for patients, visitors and staff. Candidates will work autonomously preparing and serving a pre-agreed menu to the standards set by the Head Chef. Responsibilities include food preparation and cleaning of all equipment and appliances. Responsibilities Prepare and cook food for all meals in line with agreed menus, making constant provision for special dietary requirements. Achieve and maintain the highest standard of food presentation, quality and portion control. Maintain the kitchen, storage and food preparation areas to the approved standard of hygiene by adhering to a planned cleaning schedule. Ensure stocks in freezers, refrigerators and other stores used in rotation so that storage times are not exceeded. Ensure that kitchen utensils are washed and the dishwasher effectively operated to maintain the continuing and satisfactory operation of the catering service. Support the Head Chef as requested in ordering of provisions and stock control.
Management Supervise any staff and/or volunteers working in the kitchen area to ensure a high standard of personal hygiene is maintained at all times. Support the Head Chef in maintaining a cost effective approach to the catering service with planned menus and ordering of provisions being within the approved budget. Liaise with the Head Chef in duty rota preparation, monitoring provisions, orders and deliveries, taking responsibility for these issues during the head Chefs absence on Annual or Sick Leave. Qualifications City & Guilds 706/1 and 2, or NVQ 2/3 accredited food handling & hygiene certificate or equivalent. General Responsibilties Work to maintain the values, vision and aims of St. Michaels Hospice. Additional Duties In discussion with the line manager undertake work, as and when required, in support of St. Michaels Hospice as an organisation. Public Relations Represent St. Michaels Hospice in the community and public domain as appropriate. Undertake all statutory and
mandatory training, as required. Be conversant with and adhere to St. Michaels Hospice Policies and Procedures.
