Full Job Description

Purpose: To assist in the café servery, garden café, and kitchen so that customers receive a consistently high quality of food and service. To be a helpful and supportive team member particularly to people on work experience or training placements in the restaurant., As a bank worker, your hours and working days will be "as required" but there may be opportunities for these roles to become permanent.

  • Greet new customers appropriately, answer any queries they may have and take an accurate record of their orders.

  • Be a helpful and supportive team member particularly to people on work experience or training placements in the restaurant.

  • Make up customer orders always ensuring food hygiene and Health & Safety requirements are followed. And also comply with portion and presentation guidance.

  • Provide customers with their food, beverages & cutlery and checking that they are happy with their order.

  • Ensure correct procedures are followed in the handling of cash, cheques and electronic payment transactions.

  • Maintain a fresh and attractive appearance of the premises under the guidelines set by the


  • Manager.
  • Undertake any other duties that may be required for the effective operation of the café.

  • To assist in the kitchen with pot washing and ensuring all crockery and utensils are clean and put away.

  • To assist cleaning the kitchen utilising a "Clean and you go" philosophy and follows Food Hygiene and Health & Safety Requirements.

    You'll ideally have experience of working within a café environment, but this is not essential.

  • You'll ideally have Barista training but this is not essential as all training will be provided.

  • You'll ideally have experience in operating within a catering environment with minimal supervision.

  • You'll be used to dealing with members of the public and visitors and always strive to provide an exceptional customer experience.

  • You'll have good numeracy and literacy skills, some administration experience and basic computer skills.

  • But above all, you'll enjoy having fun in a busy environment., Good standard level of education (GCSE in Maths & English)

  • Great communication and customer service skills

  • You will have a proven ability to be honest, dependable and dedicated to your role

  • A "can do" attitude and willingness to ensure all our customers and visitors receive a great experience

  • You will be available to work weekends & School holidays

  • You'll be able to work with and support people with mixed abilities.

  • A sense of humour and positive attitude really helps: we don't expect our colleagues to be stand up comedians but we do enjoy having fun.

    About Taurus Crafts and the service

    Taurus Crafts provides work and training opportunities for the people we support, developing new skills, building confidence and enabling people to participate actively in the community.

    At Taurus Crafts, people we support are involved in all aspects of our award-winning centre. Trainees serve in our shops and develop their hospitality skills in every area of our café. Our beautiful, artisan gifts and imaginatively designed cards are made by people with learning disabilities as is the crockery we use in our café, which is hand-thrown in our pottery at our nearby Grange Community.

    Salary: £10.42 per hour (Under 18s attract a lower rate of pay of £7.49 per hour)

    Hours: Variable shift hours between 09:00 and 17:30 on a bank contract, working pattern will include some weekends, bank holidays & school holidays, In addition to a competitive salary, our benefits include:
