Are you interested in Respiratory Physiotherapy? This exciting rotational opportunity is based within the specialist respiratory physiotherapy teams within University Hospitals Birmingham. This will initially be a 12 month Post at GHH working on the NIV, Surgical and Intensive Care Wards. Respiratory rotations include acute Non-Invasive Ventilation and Respiratory Support Units, regional Cystic Fibrosis centre, Home Mechanical Ventilation service including Paediatric Transition and Neuromuscular service, the Birmingham Regional Severe Asthma Service, Critical Care and Surgery.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, innovative physiotherapist. You will need good clinical skills and experience; excellent team working and time management skills. You will work alongside specialist physiotherapists, providing respiratory care and rehabilitation to patients whilst working closely with the multi-professional team. You will have the opportunity to supervise Physiotherapy students, junior Physiotherapists and Therapy Support Workers. Research and CPD opportunities are encouraged., To hold responsibility for own case load and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working without direct supervision. Supervision takes the form of regular formal training and clinical reasoning sessions, peer review, case conferences. Access to advice and support from senior physiotherapists is available if required, clinical work is not routinely evaluated.

To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner and maintain associated records.

To assist with supervision, education and assessment of the performance of physiotherapy students; this would be to a graduate standard and involve working with universities to ensure the standard of practice and teaching meets the standards set by the degree level qualification.

Applicants will be required to participate in the departmental respiratory overnight on-call system and 7 day working rota within the Respiratory Therapy teams. education and co-ordination of physiotherapy assistants, physiotherapy technical instructors and junior physiotherapists.
