Full Job Description

As Back of House Manager, you will maintain the highest standards of hygiene and occupational health and safety to ensure all back of house areas are kept in immaculate condition, at all times. And you will display exceptional attention to detail.

You will also be responsible for environmental management, driving and delivering projects which are aligned to our sustainability strategy's. Communicating and educating key stakeholders in ESG and creating best practice for COMO Hotels & resorts.

What you will do:

  • Lead the team of Kitchen porters & Back of house supervisors in the day to day operations.

  • Supervises and manages employees. Manages all day-to-day operations. Understands employee positions well enough to perform duties in employees' absence.

  • To identify the training requirements, organise and follow through the on the job training for the department

  • Overseeing the bin and wastage management areas to ensure that hotel waste is managed correctly at all times

  • To be fully aware and comply with all statutory requirements on health and safety and all aspects of the hotel's Health and Safety Policy including COSHH

  • Managing the equipment and ensuring it is maintained to the highest standards. This includes overseeing the upkeep of all service equipment and the cleaning of kitchen equipment.

  • Maintaining general cleanliness in accordance with health and safety regulations for all back of house areas.

  • Managing earth check certification, updating where relevant and communicating with relevant departments in order to ensure the system is updated at all time.

  • Raising awareness of sustainable management practices among stakeholders including, Staff members, Management, Guests & supplier

  • Formulating sustainability policies and procedures

  • Implementing and reporting on sustainability initiatives

  • Communicating with the planning committee on all ESG elements, and communicating ideas for improvement

    Previous experience as a Back of House Manager within a Hotel

  • Passion for sustainability & reducing our impact on the Planet

  • Exception communication skills with written & verbally

  • Takes pride in what you do and has a willingness to learn

  • Ability to lead & engage a team across 2 properties
