Full Job Description

Exciting news! We are delighted to share that there is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled individual to become an Associate Assistant Principal - Humanities and Languages at our school starting in September 2024. This position is ideal for those who are eager to progress in their careers and step into a leadership role. While you will oversee both Humanities and Languages, we are specifically seeking an expert in Humanities as the faculty's second in charge is a language specialist.

In your role as Associate Assistant Principal, you will have a pivotal role in ensuring that student progress transcends the confines of individual teachers. Your duties will include monitoring student development in the subject area, enhancing achievement standards, and supporting student progress across the curriculum.

Your primary goal will be to establish a learning environment that enables students to achieve their full potential. Through the implementation of effective policies and practices, you will contribute to the school's pursuit of excellence and align with trust and academy strategies.

Beyond your duties, we are looking for an individual with a positive attitude, forward-thinking approach, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Your ability to inspire and nurture the team will be crucial in achieving outstanding results. We seek a high achiever who consistently sets and upholds high expectations to drive exceptional outcomes.

We are focused on further building on the excellent reputation Broadlands has within the community and working towards further enhancing the performance of the school following its strong OFSTED inspection in 2023.

The creation of the Associate Assistant Principal role serves to underpin the future growth of the Academy, affording increased leadership capacity and greater flexibility as we look to grow the school. It offers excellent career progression and an exciting opportunity for staff wishing to develop their leadership careers yet retain a strong subject development focus.

We are excited to work with prospective candidates and match key aspects of whole school responsibility to those areas where they have an interest and/or strengths in.

If you are prepared to take on this exciting challenge and make a significant impact on students' lives, we urge you to apply. Join us on this fulfilling journey and let's shape the future together!

Broadlands Academy is an 11-16 learning community situated between Bath and Bristol, and is proud to be part of the Academies Enterprise Trust family of schools. As a small 11-16 secondary that has been serving its local community since 1935, we cultivate a 'family feel' and sense of belonging among our students, and believe that nurture is essential for academic, personal and social success. We are an inclusive school, which welcomes and celebrates students of all backgrounds and starting points, and which promotes diversity and fairness.

As well as cherishing and supporting our students, we believe in challenging them to achieve excellence in everything that they do. We have the highest of expectations of behaviour, and pledge that every classroom in our school will be a disruption-free learning environment. Similarly, we have aspirational academic goals for every student, and do not believe in placing a ceiling on what any young person can achieve. We are so committed to this ethos of high expectations that we have elected to become a High Performance Learning Pathway School.

The academy is currently in a very strong position with a dedicated and inspirational Principal and a strong leadership team. We are on a trajectory of rapid improvement and are very ambitious for our students and school community.
