Full Job Description

Would you like to join a great place to work where you will be encouraged to apply your knowledge to make a real difference? We have a fantastic opportunity for a talented Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our Rail Team in Swindon.

With the support of more senior members of the commercial team, you will manage the project's budget ensuring that legal and quality standards are met. You will be responsible for the effective engagement and management of our supply chain.

What you'll be doing

  • Estimate, manage and final account for various works of various sizes and values.

  • Measure, record & value work supervised in accordance with appropriate rules and procedures.

  • Obtain, locate, and compile pre-contract and post-contract documentation.

  • Responsible for the weekly and monthly work programmes.

  • Use the companys ERP System and BMS systems.

  • Collect the information required to specify procurement requirements.

  • Record and document information including registration of interest.

  • Collation of cost and value information.

  • Measurement of works and agreements with subcontractors.

    The following qualifications or equivalent are essential:

  • Currently have or working towards a BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience


  • The following qualities/experience are desirable:
  • An organised, innovative and creative Quantity Surveyor.

  • Previous experience of managing costs and maximising value.

  • Experience of financial and commercial control within a project.

  • Experience of procuring and managing supply chain.

  • Experience of working as part of commercial teams.

  • Membership of or working towards RICS

  • Proven record of working to deadlines, working efficiently and to a high standard.
