Deloitte's Forensic Analytics team help clients leverage the data in their technology platforms to accelerate the conduct of investigations, resolve legal disputes and regulatory issues and prevent economic crime. Our specialists deliver a wide range of technology, analytics and data science solutions to detect, investigate, resolve and prevent complex accounting, fraud and misconduct issues.

You will work with our clients and subject matter experts to help understand and respond to the challenges they face. Your role will be to contribute to the design and delivery of these solutions by leveraging technology and data analytics as well as overseeing the work of other team members to achieve this.

As an Assistant Manager, your responsibilities will vary depending on the focus of your client engagement and your skillset, but could include and/or require the following:

  • Working with engagement leaders and client stakeholders and SMEs to identify strategic, operational or tactical solutions to complex issues

  • Communicating complex legislative or regulatory requirements to business audiences with ease

  • Leading or supporting the delivery of projects and workstreams (depending on scale) on a range of client engagements including:

  • + assessing the adequacy of current systems and controls to manage financial crime risk, including conducting policy gap analyses against legal and regulatory requirements
    + advising on the identification and assessment of financial crime risk
    + advising on the design and implementation of systems and controls to manage financial crime risk or enhance operational efficiency
    + drafting and performing test scripts to assure the effectiveness of financial crime controls
    + advising on the response to regulatory action (including skilled person reviews, SAMLP visits)
    + conducting customer due diligence, sanctions and transaction monitoring look-backs
  • Developing new methods and tools to support the high quality and innovative delivery of advice and services to clients

  • Managing diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution

  • Mentoring and appraising staff as part of the performance management process

  • Building a broad network of client relationships within the financial crime community and wider financial services industry

  • Proactively supporting business development initiatives and go-to-market offerings, identifying new opportunities to deliver value to clients

  • Supporting client account teams, including the management of relationships and project opportunities

  • Contributing to articles and thought leadership pieces on financial crime and broader regulatory matters in order to build eminence in the marketplace

    To qualify, demonstrable knowledge and a proven ability to deliver with significant experience in financial crime is essential.

    Your experience and approach
  • Demonstrable experience in delivering insight using data analytics to a non-technical audience, ideally in a role with a compliance, investigations or regulatory component and data analytics requirement.

  • Knowledge and experience in an area of economic crime such as fraud, anti-bribery and corruption or misconduct is preferable but not essential.

  • Proven technical ability in generating insight using technology and analytics over transactional datasets and communicating this insight in a variety of forms such as presentations, formal reports and documents.

  • Able to demonstrate an independent, pro-active and confident approach to managing project-based work.

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills. You are comfortable and adept at navigating competing priorities, resolving ambiguity and managing demanding expectations under pressure


  • Your skills:
  • Experience of undertaking project-based work;

  • Experience of independently delivering data analytics tasks as well as working with and / or helping others to achieve this;

  • Ability to communicate complex information and opinions clearly, to technical and senior professional audiences, in both written and verbal contexts.

  • Proven technical ability in one or more of the following areas:

  • Recent use of SQL or other software / programming languages to create and analyse datasets including the use of ETL solutions to load data into databases

  • Data analysis and visualisation tools (e.g. Excel, VBA, R, Python, Tableau)

  • Network analytics and big data solutions (i2, Neo4j, Hadoop)
