Full Job Description

The Assistant General Counsel is a broad legal generalist, primary responsible for managing legal affairs for the Cluster including 3 factories and potentially other business units.,

  • Be an engaged and high performing member of the Pet Nutrition European Legal Team and Cluster Leadership Team providing proactive & strategic advice & counsel to support the business' growth agenda not only from a legal perspective but also as a key partner of the business

  • Responsible for setting and rolling out the legal strategy across all functions within the Cluster, anticipating legal issues, navigating complex business legal challenges and providing creative strategic legal advice through innovative solutions and risk management

  • Be a highly collaborative partner to the business operating in a cross-functional team environment within the Cluster, European region, and Global functions

  • Ensure all day-to-day legal work is managed with excellence in line with the business and legal priorities. This includes, for example review and approve communications, advertising, promotions and product claims and related arrangements with third parties

  • Review, negotiate, and formalize contracts, such as supply chain or demand related

  • Support the Sales teams in legal related matters, including the design & implementation of negotiation strategy and resolution of conflicts

    Experience in a law firm and/or the legal department of an international company with regional exposure in ideally FMCG/retail sector

  • Fully qualified lawyer in UK (England & Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland) with at least 12-15 years of experience or suitable experience practicing law in the UK as a foreign qualified lawyer.

  • Experience in being a member of a Business Leadership Team

  • Know-how in legal areas above in key countries of the Cluster

  • Must be highly skilled professional with organizational agility, able to manage a diverse group of senior stakeholders, influencing others and standing alone

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, handling multiple projects and adapting to changing context/priorities

  • Agile learner with forward looking perspective, able to anticipate and resolve highly complex business, organizational and legal issues decisively across functions, segments and regions

  • Excellent management of outside counsel and legal spend

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and project management skills

  • Fluency in English and ideally another official language within the Cluster
