Full Job Description

The main focus of the role will be the commissioning and delivery of the air show ground content programme and the operational and logistical delivery of key aspects of air shows and large events at Duxford. The Assistant Air Show Manager will ensure that there is sufficient content from a range of departments to support the event and that the signage, wayfinding and marketing for visitors is fully joined up in order to give the best visitor experience, and to maximise income. To do this they will make sure that all internal and external stakeholders are delivering against set briefs, budgets and to agreed timelines.
This role will ensure that the IWM air shows are delivered to a high standard and are an enjoyable day out for a variety of audiences. They will ensure the IWM brand is represented throughout and will work with central Marketing to ensure co-ordinated promotion around ground content. They will have a strong commercial focus to ensure that ground plans maximise secondary spend at the event. The post will ensure that a range of operational and logistical matters are safely and professionally managed during the events, including during the build and derig. Supporting the Air Show Event Manager, they will also input into the planning and development of the air shows held at IWM Duxford.
The post will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a range of air show contractors and working closely with other IWM departments to ensure the successful delivery of the air shows.

  • You will have experience in this area and be prepared to take on broad responsibilities, working across departments effectively, working with individuals, partners and where appropriate volunteers.

  • You should be able to supervise and motivate staff, partners and, where relevant, volunteers in order to get the best out of them.

  • You will be expected to comply with corporate standards, and use corporate systems, processes and procedures - and undertake any necessary training as directed.
