Full Job Description

This will include learning how to set up and operate milling machines and spark eroders, inspecting tools using a Faro arm and other measuring equipment, assisting in the drawing office with design using CAD software, making components, stripping and building tools from 1T to 30T, and other functions such as operating a gundrill, polishing etc to expose the apprentice to all aspects of the company, followed by mutual agreement on the best area(s) to focus on and achieve further experience and skill, as part of the development and training programme., Level 3 Engineering Technician apprenticeship standard, including Functional Skills if required.

This qualification includes:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering - Toolmaker and Tool & Die Maintenance Technician

  • Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Technical Knowledge) BTEC Diploma Edexcel Level 3

  • Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence) Diploma Level 2

  • You will work with expert assessors to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours within the profession.

  • You will experience a blended learning model.

  • This programme is delivered via a day release delivery model which means that one day per week, your attendance is required at our engineering campus in NG17. This attendance is required during term time only.

  • You will gather learning evidence, journals and off-the-job records using your e-portfolio.

  • At the end of the planned learning period, it will be agreed that you are ready to enter 'Gateway' and for your End Point Assessment to be arranged.

  • GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 4/C) Essential
