To assist the procurement team raising and sending purchase orders & assisting with general administrative duties within the department. Negotiating with supply chain, taking responsibility for ordering stationery and office sundries for both our Bristol & London site.

To learn and gain a basic understanding of procurement, you will need to be able to send emails internally and externally, gain confidence in answering the phone and calling MCS staff, and contacts from our supply chain.

Working closely with the 2 other members of the team you will be typing and sending purchase orders to suppliers.

Completing and sending account opening forms.

Responsible for ordering items for our offices and sites.

All we ask is you have a willingness to learn and we will help build you into a valued member of the team, punctuality is a must.

The duties will depend on your experience and training. Generally, you will be:

  • Typing & sending purchase orders via our software called Easy Build.

  • Ordering stationery and supplies for both our Bristol & London offices.

  • We order everything from site materials to cars, laptops & mobile phones.

  • Taking notes in supplier meetings.

  • Attending internal project meetings.

  • General administration duties for the procurement team.

  • Negotiating with suppliers.

  • Requesting quotations from suppliers.

  • Completing and sending new account forms.

  • Learning and developing your negotiation skills., The apprenticeship typically takes around 18 months to 24 months to complete. The end point assessment consists of two distinct assessment methods a work based project followed by a presentation with questions and answers and an interview underpinned by a portfolio of evidence. The End point assessment is typically completed in the last 6 months. The apprenticeship is graded Pass, Distinction or fail based on the performance in the end point assessment.


  • The apprenticeship is aligned to recognition from the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS). Completion of the Advanced Certificate in Procurement & Supply Operations is a prerequisite for beginning the end point assessment.

    The certificate will be delivered at our Filton Campus and attendance is mandatory for all apprentices.

    What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

    Once your apprenticeship has been completed you will have the opportunity to progress with further training within procurement.

    CIPS courses are recognised globally as driving leading edge thinking and professionalism across the procurement and supply chain management industry.

    Each qualification has been developed by CIPS after working closely with industry partners to ensure they reflect current, emerging and best practice in procurement and supply chain management.

    The Apprenticeship is a key pathway for individuals entering the commercial procurement profession. You will also complete the Advanced Certificate in Procurement and Supply Operations and any required maths and English Functional Skills if required via day release to College at Filton Campus.

    Requirements: This apprenticeship will require learners to achieve Maths and English at Level 2. At interview we will carry out an assessment to determine current literacy and numeracy levels. We will take into account any support needs in determining the suitability of learners for this apprenticeship., Communication skills, IT skills, Attention to detail, Organisation skills, Customer care skills, Problem solving skills, Presentation skills, Administrative skills, Number skills, Team working, Initiative, Non judgemental, GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 4/C) Essential
    GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 4/C) Essential,
  • Some work experience or voluntary work would be an advantage but not essential · Outgoing patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations You would need to be able to get to Yate.
