Full Job Description

Working with a small team of Technicians within Assembly, Integration & Test (AIT), the Test Technician will be responsible for:

  • testing production and customer owned hardware,

  • fault-finding and diagnosis of faults to board level,

  • basic assembly of hardware

  • programming of modules using a variety of Acceptance Test Equipment and software packages.


  • You will learn on the job Core Technician skills, problem solving and continuous improvement. Due to the nature of work performed within this area, the majority of work performed will be within a screened laboratory environment., Grow your knowledge of an engineering business and what the role of a technician is by being part of an Integrated Project Team.
    Develop practical skills in manufacturing and understanding key processes and technologies.
    Support early careers activities - our apprentices have the opportunity to work as STEM ambassadors in schools, colleges and universities

    During your first year you will spend time at college completing a Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, the foundation qualification of your apprenticeship. Upon completion, you will return to Leonardo to start your rotational placements within some of the following departments; Manufacturing Workshop, QA, Planning and Integration and Testing. During your second year you will attend college on a day release basis to complete a Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, the knowledge qualification of your apprenticeship and continue with your rotational placements., Communication skills, Problem solving skills, Number skills, GCSE or equivalent English & Maths (Grade 5 x GCSE A-C or 4-9) Essential
