Apprentice Fabricator / Welder

Tong Swiftlift, part of the Tong Engineering Group is now inviting applications from individuals who would like to pursue a career in engineering, to join us as an Apprentice Fabricator, working in conjunction with The College of West Anglia on a day release basis from our Cranmore Lane, Holbeach site.

There are two routes available depending on your qualifications. If you have 4 GCSE's at Grade 3 or above including Maths and English, you will initially be enrolled on a Level 2 Engineering Operative Apprenticeship, which you will complete before progressing to a Level 3 Metal Fabricator Apprenticeship .

If you have 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 (C) or above, including Maths at grade 5 or above, you will be enrolled onto a Level 3 Metal Fabricator Apprenticeship and are not required to complete a Level 2 qualification first.

The courses cover a variety of subjects including theory of materials, interpreting technical drawings, marking out and preparation techniques, welding using various tools, techniques and materials, and quality checks during and after fabrication activities have taken place.

When working in our factory, you will be mentored by highly experienced, skilled staff, learning how to fabricate a wide range of our machinery. You will also cover other areas such as sheet metal working which will provide you with an unparalleled skillset due to the variety of work that we do.

On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you may be offered a position working in our Fabrication Department.
