Full Job Description

  • The successful candidate will attend a training school for an initial 10 weeks, learning practical skills in manual milling and turning

  • Once on site at Consett the apprentice will shadow a time served CNC miller

  • The apprentice will start with basic operating of complex equipment

  • Over the course of the training the apprentice will learn to set the machines to produce high value, complex components used in the aerospace industry


  • The training you will be getting

    Level 3 Extended Diploma in Machining - Day release at college for two academic years.

    In house training within the employer, learning relevant skills to become a machining technician.

    Certificate of Apprenticeship from the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE).

    This apprenticeship aligns with the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) for Engineering Technician (EngTech).

They will be able to work to a high level on complex equipment., Communication skills, Attention to detail, Organisation skills, Problem solving skills, Number skills, Logical, Team working, Initiative, GCSE or equivalent maths and English (Grade Grade 4 Grade C as a minimum) Essential
    BTEC or equivalent Level 2 Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Diploma (Grade Pass) Desired

    Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
