Full Job Description

The Community Respiratory Service provides a number of services across Morecambe Bay, including (but not limited to) pulmonary rehabilitation, respiratory physiotherapy clinics, a domiciliary service and home oxygen.

A small team of administrative colleagues support the day to day running of these services, along with our MDT clinical colleagues.

We are looking to recruit a Lead administrator and Patient Navigator to our service, to provide oversight, leadership, management and service improvement to the administrative and patient flow functions of our service.

  • Provide oversight of all service administrative functions

  • Provide leadership and line management to the administrative staff within the service

  • Support the service lead/manager with finance, business, performance and quality data /functions

  • Work with service lead clinicians and service users to lead on improved patient access, flow and experience through the Pulmonary Rehabilitation , domiciliary and clinic services

  • Provide support to the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service Accreditation Scheme [arranging meetings, minuting meetings, collating evidence for the accreditation process]

  • Provide senior administrative support to the Morecambe Bay Respiratory Network as required

    The successful candidate(s) will have extensive administrative experience and excellent people skills, with a passion for supporting effective and timely patient care and continuous service improvement.


  • Ideally, the successful candidate(s) will come from an NHS background, with a working knowledge of UHMBT Community Services and NHS IT, procurement and electronic patient record systems.

    The successful candidates will have proven line management and people development skills and experience, and can articulate key areas for improvement to support improve patient flow and experience within our services.

    We operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.

    FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

    WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

    All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
