"Reporting is key activity for the Group and this role goes beyond accounting policy and statutory accounts production, engaging with all Annual Report stakeholders. ICG is always changing and our team's role is to understand and explain how those changes impact our financial reporting, defining what the Group is from a reporting perspective and ensuring that we comply with reporting requirements. External requirements also change, and a key aspect of this role will be to support the development of our reporting to address the requirements of ISSB and other regulation."
The Accounting Policy & Reporting Strategy team is responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining the Group's accounting policy manual and technical accounting documents, and ensure these are implemented appropriately by the Group Financial Control team

  • partnering with the business to provide advice on the correct IFRS accounting treatment for a wide range of transactions

  • managing the production of the Intermediate Capital Group PLC Annual Report

  • supporting corporate reporting initiatives, including providing regular updates on changes to financial reporting requirements and other matters of relevance.


  • Summary of our opportunity
    This is a unique opportunity to step into the role of Accounting Policy and Reporting Strategy Manager on a fixed-term basis at Intermediate Capital Group in our London office. During this maternity cover position, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining our financial integrity and contributing to our strategic objectives. You will have the chance to work with a dynamic finance team and engage with various stakeholders across the business. This role also allows you to contribute to key projects and initiatives that drive our company forward.
    Primary Responsibilities
    The role is multifaceted and encapsulates a number areas:
    General
  • Build and increase visibility of accounting policy team across all key functions across ICG

  • Be a key contact person within the team addressing ad hoc queries and provision of support when required from key functions such as Tax, Legal, and the business

  • Involvement with ad hoc governance projects across the Group


  • Annual report
  • Lead on project management and coordination of ICG PLC Annual Report. Act as central contact point ensuring that the relevant stakeholders are engaged and are involved as appropriate

  • Timely implementation and follow up of key stakeholders input into Annual Report including Legal, Finance, Sustainability, Tax, and Investor Relations, working closely with external suppliers

  • Responsible for preparation and dissemination of status reports to SteerCo


  • External audit
  • Integral part of accounting policy team involved in half year and year end audit. Involves assisting with policy updates, preparation of technical memos, and responding to audit queries

  • Lead the financial statement preparation including drafting of pro-forma primary statements and associated notes

  • Accountable for ensuring all accounting policy related documentation is sent to audit team and managing audit process and providing senior management with status reports

  • Prepare and assist in the finalisation of audit committee documentation


  • Group Finance support
  • Lead and manage the impairment review process, working closely with financial reporting and control teams

  • Primary responsibility for management of the internal dividend process

  • Input into complex accounting, including performance fee recognition, certain valuation processes and other reporting requirement

  • Support the Group Finance in assisting with queries, support with finance data requirements and resolution of technical accounting issues

  • Review of subsidiary financial statements


  • Business support
  • Review of new products as part of the new product approval process including the documentation of accounting under IFRS

  • Review of new transactions as part of the Executive Committee approval process including the documentation of accounting under IFRS

  • Assist in the provision of technical accounting advice and support to investment and tax teams for prospective funds and transactions

    You will have demonstrable experience of:

  • Essential
  • 5+ years PQE in either/and: Accounting Policy and/or Audit and Internal control

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant - ACA, ACCA or equivalent

  • Strong understanding of IFRS and UK regulatory reporting requirements

  • Past organisations: Publicly listed organisation, Asset managers, PE & Venture capital, financial services firms

  • Excellent project management skills, with a track record of successfully managing complex, time-sensitive projects

  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Analytical and detail-oriented
