Full Job Description

As an Account Manager for our Research and Safety Division (RSD), you are a core member of our UK South sales team. Joining a friendly and collaborative team, where mentoring and coaching for success is offered for your professional development. The main focus of this role is to run and grow part of our Cambridge territory by selling our full RSD portfolio. This includes a wide range of laboratory equipment, consumables, chemicals and safety products.
You will support a wide variety of customers in Academia, Government and Healthcare through the assigned area. Working independently, you will increase and maintain sales by developing strong business relationships with our customers and our vendors by highly focused selling to our existing customer base via direct sales efforts, demonstration, mini-shows and product detailing.
This is a field-based role where weekly travel will vary, with an average 3-4 days per week on the road (c.60-80% per annum).When not travelling, you are able to work from home.,

  • Build positive relationships with and sell our RSD portfolio to customers within the territory, through a hybrid of virtual and in-person visits Work with both internal Thermo Fisher suppliers and external manufacturers to provide the best possible solution to customer needs Independently make decisions, but also use available resources to meet customer needs. Work with a cross-functional team of supplier and internal resources to seek out broader relationships facilitating networking and prospecting

    Research competitor and industry activity and keep up-to-date with new products/services and other general information of interest to customers, incorporating this data into the business plan; Introduce new products and services

  • Lead pricing discussions within territory to control profitability Experience required Degree in a Science (any subject area), or equivalent work experience Some prior sales experience - field, retail & phone-based selling, all of interest (any industry)

  • Self-motivated & with a genuine desire to work in a sales role

  • Enthusiastic and driven to succeed in a vibrant and dynamic territory

  • Confident personality, able to connect with customers across a range of settings including one-to-one meetings, exhibitions and formal presentations

  • Digital proficiency - Word, Excel, Teams/Zoom, email, internet

  • Analytical proficiency (i.e. using Excel to do basic calculations, VLOOKUP, pivots etc.); familiarity with PowerBI dashboards & Salesforce.com

  • Able to maintain records & meet admin requirements as part of standard work

  • Strong organisation skills are crucial with the ability to work autonomously

  • Valid UK driver's license & willingness to travel on a weekly basis (3 - 4 days per week) within territory, plus regional & national meetings
