Full Job Description

The post holder's duties will involve the work tasks mentioned below.

The Preparation and cooking of dishes as per Restaurant Menu and customer preferences where required.
Cooking a wide range of traditional Indian dishes using their existing speciality knowledge in this area. Also testing ingredients and flavours and buying necessary items to expand the menu options for customers.
Monitoring food stock level, researching and negotiating with food suppliers and placing of orders as required for food preparation.
Preparing and cooking dishes in the kitchen area in accordance with food safety policies and procedures.
The 2nd Chef will be responsible for supervising junior kitchen staff as required.
Work closely with 1st Chef and in co-operation with Tandoori Chef and other colleagues. When required, must be prepared to train junior colleagues in the process of food preparation and presentation tasks.
The 2nd Chef will be required to place orders for raw and cooked food products, attend meetings to suggest costing of dishes and assisting with updating the Restaurant Menu for dishes in collaboration with the 1st Chef

The 2nd Chef must fully comply with all health and safety regulations and food handling procedures at all times.

The 2nd Chef must be prepared to participate in marketing publication and business promotional activities.

Candidates do not have to hold any formal qualification to apply for the position, however, it is essential that applicants have the requisite experience and skills as a Second Chef to successfully carry out the duties of the post as detailed above and be prepared to attend in-house food safety training course(s) before the commence employment. Candidates are expected to have a minimum of 3 years of prior work experience as a Second Chef.
