A wonderful opportunity to be a level 2 qualified social worker has arisen to work at a well established company based in Dereham. Your duties will include: * To manage a caseload of complex cases, utilising specialist knowledge for appropriate interventions, needs assessments, care planning, and child protection investigations (under close supervision for Level 1 Social Workers). * To carry out high quality assessments and use child centred, community focused, and multi-agency interventions to bring about positive change through developing effective relationships and secure the best outcomes for children and young people. * To strengthen the relationships between children, young people and families wherever possible and appropriate. * To ensure children and young people are adequately protected in line with the LSCB and departmental policy and procedures and relevant legislation. * You are required to travel as part of your duties working in a range of settings and to undertake home visits, including some out of county. You will be responsible for your own travel arrangements and these must be carried out in the most effective and efficient way to perform your job. Principal Accountabilities (in order of importance) * To hold an allocated caseload of complex cases to protect vulnerable children, manage risk effectively, strengthen emotional resilience, and address underlying causes impacting negatively on their development through interventions with children and their families. (under close supervision for Level 1 Social Workers). * To co-ordinate and take responsibility for ensuring the appropriate action is taken where there is multiple service/agency involvement ensuring the use of effective evidence/knowledge based interventions and restorative approaches. (under close supervision for Level 1 Social Workers) * To develop positive, trusting, relationships with children and their families to achieve positive change and with other professionals to promote collaborative working. * To maintain full, accurate, and up to date records in accordance with departmental practice and guidance, including the maintenance of electronic records on case management systems. * To work in an integrated multi-disciplinary manner to ensure the service meets, as effectively and efficiently as possible, the identified best possible outcomes for children and young people and their families. * To undertake regular monitoring/review of cases/services established. * To use effective presentational skills to represent the department and provide verbal/written reports for court proceedings, case conferences and other arenas. * To work within statutory responsibilities and departmental policies/procedures including recording, client file access, complaints confidentiality, and where necessary provide statements and care plans to the court. * To work in partnership with families/carers and all key agencies who are involved in decision making and planning by sharing information in a timely and accurate manner. Qualifications Essential Honours Degree or Diploma in Social Work or CQSW. Registration as a Social Worker with the HSPC. and for Level 2 completion of all post qualifying requirements including the ASYE Experience Essential * For Level 2: minimum 1 year's experience of direct working with children and families and completion of the ASYE. * Experience of working with children. * Application of theoretical models and relevant research. * Best practice. * Awareness of local Government function. Skills/Knowledge Essential Understand and apply core social work competencies: o Safeguarding o Communication o Sharing information o Supporting transitions o Understanding child and young person's development o Multi-agency working * · Excellent interpersonal skills to effect positive change. * Knowledge and understanding of the Children Act 1989, 2004, Working Together 2013 and other relevant legislation. * Knowledge of current policy and practice, including electronic case management systems. * Knowledge of childcare, Child Protection procedures, resources, current Department of Health Guidance and Quality Protects. * Knowledge of child development and attachment, understanding the impact of parental problems and the short and long term impacts of abuse and neglect on children. * Demonstrable expertise in assessments, including core assessments. * Demonstrable ability to work collaboratively with multi-agency partners. * Understanding of the respective roles and responsibilities of other professionals and how child and family social workers can contribute their unique role as part of a multidisciplinary team. * A commitment to, and knowledge and understanding of equal opportunities, anti-discriminatory practices and user involvement. * A commitment to CPD. * Ability to manage own time effectively, prioritise and manage caseloads, and meet deadlines. * Ability to reflect and learn from own behaviour and feedback, identifying impact of action on others. * Understanding of the respective roles and responsibilities of other professionals and how child and family social workers can contribute their unique role as part of a multidisciplinary team. * Capacity to develop interpersonal skills to effect positive change.
