Job Title: 

Occupational Therapist (HCPC registered) for Children and Young People

Location:         

Regional Role, West London 

Salary:           

£45,000 dependent on experience. 

Contract:

What are we looking for?

Mandatory Requirements:

  • HCPC and RCOT registration 
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Occupational Therapy 

Desirable:

Experience working within specialist paediatric setting.

  • Experience working within school settings.
  • Experiencing completing assessments for Education, Health, and Care plans
  • Specialist CPD and/or training

Role Overview:

The Paediatric Occupational Therapist plays a pivotal role in assessing the needs of a variety of students for Education and Health Care Plans (EHCPs) and providing targeted and specialist interventions to support their development. You will be working within a variety of school environments and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and teaching staff to ensure holistic care and imbedded interventions. Additionally, the role involves training and upskilling teaching staff to effectively support students' occupational therapy goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of students' sensory, motor, and self-care skills to determine eligibility for Occupational Therapy provision within their EHCP.
  • Develop and implement individualised intervention plans to address students' specific needs and facilitate their participation in school activities.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to integrate occupational therapy goals into students' educational plans and learning environment. 
  • Provide ongoing monitoring and evaluation of intervention effectiveness, adjusting plans as necessary to optimise outcomes.
  • Conduct training and support to teaching staff on strategies and techniques to promote students' functional skills and independence within the classroom setting.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, case notes, annual review reports and intervention plans in accordance with regulatory standards and LCP policies. 
  • Participate actively in multidisciplinary meetings to contribute expertise and ensure coordinated care for students with complex needs.
