Full Job Description

Our Outsourcing department is rapidly evolving and has quadrupled in size over the past two years to meet the needs of its ever growing portfolio of clients. They typically work with moderately sized firms from a plethora of sectors that require our external expertise to do their bookkeeping and VAT returns, through to providing them with insightful management accounts.

This newly created role will see you take responsibility for the delivery of VAT compliance assignments across the Outsourcing team. You'll also have responsibility for your own portfolio of clients, meaning you'll be their go to point of contact and the final review point before sending completed work. There is also significant scope here for someone to grow the existing portfolio, reinvent processes and progress their career.

What will I be doing?

As a VAT Compliance Manager you will have ownership of the following tasks:

  • Managing a team of up to four on a day-to-day basis, from trainee accountants to management accountants.

  • Working with other managers in the Outsourcing team to organise workflow and ensure deadlines are met.

  • Briefing team members on each assignment and monitoring their work and progress, with budgets in mind.

  • Finalising VAT Returns ready for client approval, including acting as the assignment leader and being the point of contact for clients.

  • Working with the Tax team to assist on larger VAT assignments and advisory work.

  • Nurturing and developing the team, including feedback on performance and delivery of appraisals.

    Whilst having the following experience is advantageous, we value passion and potential. If you meet the minimum criteria listed below and are eager to develop yourself, we would love to hear from you:

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified or part qualified (minimum criteria).

  • Strong working knowledge of VAT including MTD (minimum criteria).

  • Ability to manage a portfolio of clients.

  • Experience of delegating work to more junior team members.

  • An articulate and effective communicator at all levels.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and an in-depth knowledge of cloud-based systems.
