Validation Technician

The Validation Technician post involves the provision of an effective and efficient application registration and validation service to the planning development management section to assist the service in meeting its government targets and providing a quality service to its customers. The duties involved will include checking planning and related applications to ensure they are valid applications and have all relevant information to be registered, checking and calculating the required application fee payable, register applications on computerised planning data base and prepare case file. This would mean being able to plot and register application on corporate GIS spatial database system and carry out both statutory and non-statutory consultation. The post holder will provide support to the Planning Officers, receive telephone payments into the Capita payment system in relation to fee payments and general administrative duties as required to the Development Management services.

Candidates should have a good standard of education with demonstrable experience of working within an office environment and have an NVQ level 2 in Business Administration or equivalent. Candidates should have a professional, and polite telephone manner, good organisational and interpersonal skills, and be able to communicate at all levels. The ability to undertake a range of administrative duties and competence in the use of information technology is essential.
