Full Job Description

We're currently looking for an In-Service Support Manager to lead our Training Support team, consisting of Support Leads and Specialists across Training applications, synthetic training equipment, ICT and infrastructure. Split between RNAS Yeovilton (in support of the MOD Training Centres and maintenance activities) and our Yeovil site, your primary focus as the In-Service Support Manager, will be to provide and maintain support services on behalf of Training Operations (UK) to ensure successful training delivery whilst maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. Reporting into our Head of Training (UK), you will work closely with them and the Training Centre Managers to ensure successful delivery of internal and customer training requirements and achievement of KPIs (for example; customer satisfaction, simulator reliability and availability.)

Please note that this role is a JFF level 7 (Business Support.)

What you'll be doing as the In-Service Support Manager;

  • Act is focal point of contact within Training Operations Department and across the business for Training Support and Services.

  • Lead and manage the Support team to ensure successful delivery of contracted requirements.

  • Provide management and oversight of Support Team personnel.

  • Maintain communication, regular reviews, performance feedback, and the setting of appropriate work objectives and targets;

  • Manage and resolve capacity and capability issues to facilitate successful completion of workload in conjunction with the Training Operations Manager.

  • Management and provision of Support Services for delivered training equipment, IT infrastructure, ground stations and operational software including; technical support, spares, fault investigation, and obsolescence equipment maintenance

  • Support to Training UK Business Control Management with budgets, planning of performance, business reporting services and support

  • Management and support to the off-site teams, providing necessary leadership and direction to ensure;

  • + Availability of the suite of Synthetic Training Equipment (STE), at the correct configuration in accordance with the daily training schedules
    + Adequate cover for all planned and unplanned training equipment maintenance activities

  • Educated as an Engineer to HNC level and served an Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent military air engineering experience. (Aerospace preferred but not essential)

  • An understanding and experience in delivering complex Training Support Solutions and Services

  • Experience in operating within industry standard design practices and quality assurance processes

  • General knowledge of helicopter training and operations - both military and civil

  • An understanding of modern training devices and systems

  • Previous experience in managing multiple synthetic training devices (Aircrew and Maintenance)

  • Understanding the interactive software and testing lifecycles

  • An in depth understanding of IT networks and infrastructure

  • Strong working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications (including Microsoft Project and Visio), company standard software (NDA) plus SAP and CIETP Personal Skills

  • Fantastic interpersonal and team working skills, as well as the ability to engage and influence multiple stakeholders (internal and external) in order to achieve the project deliverables, building effective relationships with colleagues and customers

  • Able to communicate effectively from both a Technical and Programme/Business perspective at multiple levels within the business, and also with external suppliers and customers, You must be eligible for full security clearance.
