Full Job Description

When evenings are required time in lieu will be given during that day. Although we are being as clear as we can be, with the exception of planning, support, administration and Sundays, the diary has yet to be agreed as we do not know the skill set of our new worker.

Sunday (Day 1): Main Family Service - working with children's activities

Possible involvement with a social time centred around food, or the beach in summer.

Contributing to the informal, contemporary evening service as and when appropriate.

All following days will have some element of administration.

Day 2: Staff meeting where the week's diary including events, training, additional support etc. are discussed.

Preparing for the following Sunday, and other events.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Aware of how much God loves us and is willing to share His love with others.

  • Willing to be relaxed, friendly and welcoming, no matter how young, old, or whatever their background.

  • Is happy to embrace life in a small friendly community, understanding it is very different to city life.

  • Has a love of the sea, the outdoors and community life in all its forms.

  • Can be depended upon to treat people kindly and with respect.

  • Can be trusted to complete tasks independently, following any necessary training and support.

  • Is reliable, committed and does what they say they will do., Has a skills set that can contribute to ministry eg. outdoor, music, community involvement ... we really are open to offers.

Fowey Parish is very much at the heart of the Fowey community... could you be the one we are looking for to be a part of a team who like Jesus 'Meets people where they are'? Who reads this job description and recognises God has been preparing them for this role?

  • You will notice we have not included a skill set. This is intentional as there is vast scope for you to grow and learn, but the qualities above must already be embedded.

As part of a small multi-tasking team we can give you space to use your skills and passions, to be part of a body that is growing and in some ways still exploring the many open doors in front of us.
  • Children's work would include going as an assistant into schools, holiday clubs for 4 days in October and February, 'Wild Church', supporting children on Sunday mornings. (There will be a contemporary service in the evening so you don't miss out!).

  • Youth work may involve experience of chaplaincy, Youth Alpha, board games nights, music opportunities, or outdoor action or whatever skill set you have that would build up young people. We are particularly keen on helping young people (not behavioural as we do not have the capacity) who are having a hard or challenging time.

  • Community work - the church is a major part of festivals, events, celebrating the life of the town. If you enjoy this side of ministry we can include you.

  • Parish work and administration - maybe desktop publishing, social media posts, and anything you can imagine that relates to parish life. we are a small team and are very willing to share what we do.
