Full Job Description

We are looking for an NMC (UK) Registered Nurse with post qualification experience who is seeking a career in Occupational Health. The post holder will receive training on the job, and will also have the opportunity to gain their diploma in Occupational Health Practice. Once competencies and training are successfully completed, the post holder will progress to band 6.

The post holder will work 4 days per week; 9am - 5pm. This will include Fridays, as well as 3 other set days between Monday & Thursday, TBA.

Occupational Health is an established team based a short walk from Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton., The post holder will be trained to undertake a wide range of OH Services including:

Health clearance assessments based on Department of Health guidance and local policy

Assessment of fitness for work and provision of advice to Trust managers and staff

Assessment of sharps injuries

Health surveillance

Undertaking clinical audits

  • RGN with post qualification experience.

  • Able to demonstrate a genuine interest in the speciality of Occupational Health.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication.

  • Ability to produce high quality typed reports.

  • Proficient computer skills (word, excel, databases).

  • Good organisational, planning and time management skills.

  • Ability to make decisions, prioritise workload and work. autonomously


  • Desirable
  • Experience of working in an autonomous role either in nursing (e.g. practice nursing, nurse specialist) or outside of healthcare in another field.

  • Competent in venepuncture.

  • Vaccination experience.

  • Occupational Health experience.
