Full Job Description

Our Trade Counter Sales Assistant roles are pivotal positions within our company, as they are often the first point of contact for our valued customers. The role is busy and varied, and every day can be different.,

  • First point of contact - face to face and telephone Customer Service

  • Warehousing - pick and prepare orders, checking stock, goods in and dispatch

  • Internet sales - internet orders to be picked, packed and dispatched

  • Driving - delivering products to customers, Meeting and greeting customers into store and at the trade counter. To provide an excellent level of customer service to a wide variety of tradesmen, local builders and the general public, providing help and product advice as required

  • Building rapport with customers and proactively generating sales.

  • Taking customer orders over the phone and in person and having an eye for detail to ask the right questions if an order doesn't look/sound right

  • Dealing with face to face, telephone and email inquiries

  • Answering and resolving telephone queries from customers

  • Providing sales and technical support on products for customers

  • Providing verbal and email quotes for customers

  • Providing customers with information such as stock availability, pricing and lead times

  • Obtaining stock for customer orders

  • Processing relevant paperwork

  • Investigating and resolving customer issues, escalating to the Manager where appropriate

  • Stock management with a high degree of accuracy

  • Overseeing your allocated areas within the shop ensuring adherence to Health and Safety requirements, keeping the area clean and tidy, ensuring products are correctly priced and the

  • Organizing the shop and general stock replenishment, especially to your designated areas

  • Taking cash, credit card and account purchases via computerized tills, and reconciling cash at the end of the day

  • Building and maintaining good working relationships with your team and customers

  • Monitoring stock levels and helping to minimize stock loss by watching for theft and through advising management of discrepancies

  • Providing cover and assistance anywhere within the unit as and when required

  • General re-dressing of the shop area to ensure products are displayed with maximum appeal to the customer

  • Selecting space for storage and arranging for goods to be placed in the designated areas

  • Making sure that all inventory processes are completed on the same day, this to include deliveries to be brought into stock and put away on the same day of receiving them unless a delivery is received after 4pm

  • Cleaning and tidying up at the end of the day.

  • Consistently demonstrating and adhering to the company values at all times.

  • Daily warehouse duties

  • Complete system transactions for dispatch of stock, goods in, receiving and stock locations

  • Picking, loading, delivering and unloading goods at customer sites within the local area

  • Ensuring vehicles are maintained and kept clean

  • Checking and recording delivery paperwork

    We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic individual who preferably has previous trade counter experience. A full UK driving licence is required., Previous customer service experience.

  • Previous trade counter experience is preferred.

  • Good IT/system skills.

  • Using mechanical handling equipment e.g. fork lift trucks (if licenced).

  • These duties are not exhaustive. Additional hours of work may be required, as determined by the needs of the business. Additional duties, responsibilities and projects may also be required.

    Experience:
  • A full clean and valid driving license is essential

  • Experience of a similar role in a trade or retail environment

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Good organisational skills

  • Reliability, good time keeping and attendance

  • A high level of self-motivation

  • Ability to communicate at all levels professionally

    We are an independent family run company that is based in Blackpool. Our opening hours are Monday to Friday 7.30am to 4.30pm and Saturday 8.00am to 12 noon. Saturdays are worked on a rota basis. We also do not open bank holidays and are closed between Christmas and New Year. We offer free parking and a company discount.
