Full Job Description

  • To teach Physical Education to pupils in Nursery to Year 3.


  • To teach a range of sports in the Games programme, as part of the team led by the Director of Sport, to pupils in Reception to Year 3.


  • To liaise with Brighton Swim School with regards to the delivery of swimming lessons to all pupils in Years 1 to 3, ensuring all required standards are met with regards to health and safety, safeguarding and staff ratios.


  • To coordinate the swimming lessons for pupils in Years 1 to 3, including informing teachers, parents and support staff of arrangements and ensuring dates are in the calendar.


  • To review and plan schemes of work for Physical Education.


  • To take a professional approach to the planning, preparation and organisation of sessions and activities.


  • To plan and deliver a varied and interesting programme of physical and sporting activity.


  • To review sessions and plan subsequent lessons based on the needs of the pupils.


  • To prepare and where necessary order resources as required for the effective delivery of Physical Education in liaison with the Director of Sport.


  • To attend sporting events with groups of pupils in school time and out of school time as required.


  • To coach and officiate school teams at competitive fixtures against other schools.


  • To contribute to the end of term assessments and reports as directed by the Director of Sport.


  • To carry out any sports administration as directed by the Director of Sport, including the completion of match reports and contribute to the weekly sports newsletter.


  • To take part in in service training, relevant performance management arrangements and other meetings as directed; to be conversant with school policies procedures.


  • To attend safeguarding and other training as and when required by the school.


  • To maintain confidentiality at all times with regard to all aspects within the school.


  • To respond to any other reasonable management request.


  • ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To participate fully in the wider life of the school, including running an after-school club once per week.


  • To attend relevant weekly meetings.


  • To supervise pupils on school trips and visits, as required.


  • To attend Admissions related events, including Open Mornings.


  • SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This role will involve daily contact with pupils, and you will be engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.


  • All staff and volunteers have a responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact.
