We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic teacher of PE & Games on a one-year fixed term basis from September 2024.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving team of teachers and to shape the delivery of PE & Games within our warm and dynamic community.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • A good degree in Physical Education or a related subject from a well-respected university

  • The knowledge to extend, challenge and develop our most able performers

  • The ability to inspire and nurture a love for sport in every pupil in the school

  • Significant expertise in at least one of our of core sports and the skills to contribute across all three terms

  • An eagerness to inspire and support all pupils to flourish and reach their sporting potential

  • Strong pastoral instincts and a commitment to excellent pastoral care for all pupils

  • A desire to contribute to the school's thriving co-curricular programme

  • Excellent communication, organisation and listening skills

  • An ability to work well with others


  • The following would be advantageous:
  • Prior experience of teaching Games and PE in a secondary school environment

  • A personal commitment to ongoing professional development

  • The ability to support one or more of our core sports (rugby, hockey, netball, rowing, football, cricket and tennis)

  • The ability to lead the programme for one or more of our non-core sports (athletics, badminton, basketball, cross-country, fencing, golf, health & fitness, mixed martial arts, pilates, sailing, squash, swimming, table tennis, ultimate frisbee, volleyball, water polo and yoga)

    As part of the interview process, all candidates will be required to complete a short written exercise and teach an observed lesson. Preparation work in advance of the lesson will be required, and details will be provided prior to interview.
