Full Job Description

As a Senior System Tester, you'll be accountable for ensuring that quality is built into solutions at all stages of the development lifecycle. You will drive forward the quality agenda by providing expert and practical advice and guidance on complex testing issues. You will develop the capability within the test discipline by increasing knowledge and understanding of the importance of building in quality across Digital and IT solutions., Accountable for setting clear direction to implement quality across all teams.
- Accountable for the creation of project test strategies and plans.
- Accountable for providing expert advice and guidance to enable teams to embed good practice principles.
- Accountable for the provision of in-depth, expert guidance to project teams on complex or high risk areas.
- Accountable for maintaining a managed view of all test activity to ensure that testing is being appropriately carried out across all project teams, including identification of risks.
- Accountable for the development and monitoring of metrics to measure quality, using the analysis of these metrics to inform future quality strategies and any targeted quality initiatives.
- Responsible for developing capability and skills within the test discipline.
- Responsible for the provision of expert, timely and considered advice to senior decision makers on quality issues.
- Responsible for building and managing relationships within the Digital Team, business areas and with external companies, agreeing contractual acceptance criteria for IT deliverables and providing assurance on the quality of external products.
- You can think creatively, ask the right questions and critically evaluate and communicate findings to a larger team.
- You can lead investigative work into problems and opportunities in existing processes.
- You can drive the collection of information and the creation of recommendations for improvements.

ISTQB Advanced Senior Tester in Software Testing
OR
- Proven track record in Test Management and leading digital teams

Essential experience criteria:

- Experience of upskilling others in test techniques.
- Experience of creating robust strategy and plans to ensure quality.
- Experience of working within multiple projects at the same time.
- The ability to manage risk and improvement plans.
- Experience of continuous integration practices.
- Knowledge of accessibility regulations and guidance, specifically WCAG standards.

Desirable experience criteria:

- Experience of using automated testing techniques.

Salary of circa £40,000
- Civil service pension, with an employer contribution rate of 27%
