Full Job Description

This role will be supporting a 13-year-old child after school and taking him to after school activities. The child needs supervision, supporting his parents to manage his care and enable him to lead a fulfilling, happy and structured life. The Support Worker must be able to adapt the child's emotional and physical needs, whilst also liaising with the parents, working as a team.

Clinical guidance and supervision will be provided by the Case Manager.

A driving licence is essential, and an enhanced DBS will be carried out. The ideal candidate will need enthusiasm and energy to meet the requirements for the role. The pay rate is £15 an hour.

Responsibilities:

You will be supporting the child to:

  • Complete his educational needs. E.g. homework or reading.

  • Supervise and protect the child from danger or harm.

  • Build a rapport and show energic enthusiasm to maintain the child's focus and engage well with the rest of the family.

  • Provide the child with clear boundaries, routines and respond appropriately to defiant behaviour as guided by the psychologist.

  • Engage in social and therapeutic activities such as crafts, cooking, reading and after school clubs.

  • Go out and about independently or support the family on days out and to support the child's involvement in his family life.

    A driver's licence is essential.

  • Experience working with children who have learning difficulties/brain injuries.

  • Good understanding of English and maths, due to helping the child with homework.
