Full Job Description

As Subject Lead for English, you will form a pivotal role at AQA leading the delivery for the English curriculum strategy and ensuring that AQA is the go to board with our customers.Subject support is focused on providing better support for all our customers.

You will liaise with a wide range of subject stakeholders across the UK and work closely with Product Management to provide invaluable insight about how the products are delivered in the classroom and what matters most to our customers.

Purpose

You will plan, lead and be accountable for delivering support to our customers on the English curriculum providing expertise in Language and Literature.

You will influence and communicate with our teaching community to support enquiries around our specifications and assessments in an easy to understand and compelling way.

As an educational leader in your field you will understand teachers needs and pressures and feed this into the delivery and support materials and events you are responsible for.

  • What you will do as a Subject Lead - English and Creative Arts?

  • Lead and coach by example as you develop your English subject support team whilst being the face of the subject for our customers.

  • Be responsible for reactive and proactive customer focused activity.

  • Through your team enhance our customer service offering.

  • Develop, consult and deliver key subject specific messages to internal and external stakeholders and customers (teachers).

  • Use relevant systems to plan, monitor and deliver retention and market share growth activity at subject expert level.

  • Engage with teachers in the field, using our support materials to enable their continuous improvement.

  • Work with external bodies to include Ofqual and the DfE.

  • You are currently or have recently led an English Team and taught the GCSE and A Level syllabus for English language and Literature / GCSE and A Level syllabus.,
  • Experience of managing subject teams as a head of department or equivalent and teaching GCSE and/or A Level syllabus within the last 2 years.

  • The ability to interpret data to inform decision making, monitor delivery and impact to customers.

  • Matrix management skills to persuade and influence across a wide range of stakeholders at AQA.

  • Ability to travel extensively with overnight stays on occasion.

  • Confident and comfortable in communicating/presenting to teachers, parents and students in a clear and empathetic way, handling objections as they arise.

  • Sound understanding of the assessment processes at GCSE and A-level along with a good understanding of the wider educational landscape.

  • Ability to articulate key selling points of AQA's full offering effectively.
