Full Job Description

  • In an average day, the apprentice will be shadowing an Activity Professional delivering day to day duties in schools and in time, be running their own after school clubs

  • The aim is for the applicant to progress onto their own curricular PE delivery.

  • Throughout the term, the apprentice will have additional training opportunities such as internal CPD, compliance courses and affiliated qualifications such as British Gymnastics, British Fencing etc.


    • The training you will be getting

  • The applicant will complete the following compliance courses: Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding, Prevent, GDPR, Equality and Diversity.

  • Additionally, they will undertake an Instructor course run by British Gymnastics.

  • Other affiliated training opportunities include: Lawn tennis association, British Fencing, British Dodgeball.

  • The apprentice will attend the college one day a week where they will look into coaching pedagogy, subject knowledge and start to establish themselves as coaches.


    • The apprenticeship training is delivered through a combination of workplace learning and regular college attendance. This training will teach you the knowledge, skills and behaviours set out in the Sports Coach Level 4 standard. On completion the apprentice will receive Level 4 Sports Coach qualification.

    Communication skills, Attention to detail, Organisation skills, Customer care skills, Creative, Initiative, Non judgemental, Physical fitness, GCSE or equivalent English (Grade A
  • -C or 9-4) Essential

    • GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade A
  • -C or 9-4) Essential

    • NVQ or SVQ Level 3 or equivalent Sport (Grade Pass) Essential, Sports coach

    Level 4 (Higher national Certificate)
