Full Job Description

Job plan of this post can be flexibly allocated to suit the needs of the department and individual. This will be a 10 PA position, where the successful candidate will be expected to run lists independently but will at times work with consultants or trainee doctors. Special interests of the successful candidate will be accommodated where possible. There is a 1 PA allocation for SPA to support necessary CPD appraisal and revalidation and completion of mandatory training. Further SPA time is negotiable for candidates who take on additional roles.

We will work with you to shape the ideal job plan upon successful appointment, and review it with you after three months and then annually - so you can keep the perfect fit. We will also provide the essential resources to support you in your duties, including administrative support., This post is a full-shift 1 in 7 to 1 in 8. The on-call duties are undertaken at the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital and may include critical care, obstetrics, or emergency theatre cover, by agreement. Members of the on-call team are a consultant, resident until 18.00 then on call from home, CT trainee for CEPOD cover, CT or similar cover for ICU, and an experienced middle grade resident for obstetric cover. The post holder may be involved in teaching doctors, medical students, nurses and other paramedical staff in the team. Specialty Doctors are expected to participate in annual appraisal and undergo annual job plan review. The post holder will be expected to actively participate in the departmental audit and clinical governance programme as part of their revalidation, together with the senior Doctors' teaching programme.
