Full Job Description

The Solution Architect will be responsible for the design and governance of solution delivery for Insurance (London Market) and Reinsurance business functions within our Lloyd's syndicate. You will provide technical and architecture leadership and full range of advisory and delivery services across multiple projects.
This is a wide ranging role. The Solution Architect may be involved in many areas of the business and will be required to collaborate with multiple stakeholders within different areas of the company.

MS Amlin Business Services (MS ABS) supports the organisation through legal, HR, facilities management, IT, risk management, compliance, and finance. Our vision is to be a trusted partner and solution provider of choice.
While this role sits within ABS it will be focused on providing architecture services to our Lloyd's Syndicate (MS AUL/Syndicate 2001) which writes a wide range of business within the Lloyd's market.
What You'll Spend Your Time Doing

  • Work closely with stakeholders including software engineering teams, operations, product teams a, business analysts, business stakeholders and architecture colleagues to define a technical approach to problems and initiatives.

  • Recommend and present suitable, high-performance solutions targeting Azure but including SaaS and desktop

  • Define and document system architectures ensuring all solutions are taken through corporate governance and ensuring security and data integrity is integrated into all cloud architecture solutions

  • Oversee technical implementations undertaken by multiple scrum teams, being hands-on and close to the code as required

  • Carry out quick POCs on the latest technology and to present the findings to different audiences

  • Liaise with development teams to ensure the smooth delivery of solutions

  • Review existing applications and ensure coherent and secure interoperability

    Like working over a wide range of projects/initiatives with various stakeholders in a collaborative manner

  • Have the ability to explain complex issues in easy to digest terms

  • Have the desire and confidence to express your own ideas and a willingness to engage in discussions

  • Are curious to challenge the status quo with a view of increasing excellence

  • Are eager to explore new tools and improvement ideas


  • What We Need From You
  • Expertise in application and solution design using Azure cloud and Microsoft technologies

  • Experience developing high-performance, scalable, data-driven, and extensible solutions

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly document architecture decisions

  • Clear understanding of Lloyds Insurance Systems, London Market knowledge, Re-insurance, Policy Underwriting and Claims Process including EBOT, ECOT, ECF and Xchanging systems knowledge

  • Good knowledge of Security best practices

  • Ability to evolve existing solutions towards next-generation technologies and architectures

  • Good understanding of strategic IT planning and Enterprise Architecture methodologies/frameworks is desirable

  • Substantial relevant solution architecture experience

  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform is beneficial

  • Preferably Microsoft Azure Certified.

  • Ability to present Solution Designs to Architecture Review Boards
