Full Job Description

To undertake a broad caseload of private client matters including Wills, Probate, Succession Planning, Estate Administration, Trusts, Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection Receivership applications. Tasks required but not limited to-

  • Undertake all aspects of fee earning work with the required skills and knowledge to carry out your duties.

  • Provide a profitable contribution to the work of the department/firm as well as making cross-referrals to other teams when appropriate.

  • Ensure a high level of client care and satisfaction.

  • Comply with SRA and COLP/COFA Rules and policies/procedures relevant to Office Quality Manual.

  • Always manage files to Lexcel/CQS Standard.

  • Supervision of fee earning work undertaken by colleagues/management of support services (para-legal/secretary/assistant).

  • Participation in company marketing projects.

  • Financial control, ensuring prompt closure of files at completion with ledgers nil, balanced and activation of feedback/review request with Review Solicitors.

  • Keep up to date with changes in law, taking part in compulsory compliance training, developing skills of self and other members of staff where appropriate.

  • Maintaining written communications in a clear and concise manner including post and emails.

  • Meeting all deadlines within the specified timeframes and ensuring prompt response times.

    Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with a minimum of 2 years PQE.

  • STEP and/or SFE accreditation is desirable.

  • Experience of dealing with Private Client matters is required.

  • Consistent history of generating a fee income and meeting financial targets.

  • Experience of dealing with Court of Protection work including deputyship, administration of trusts, asset protection, IHT issues, contentious probate, variation of Estates.

  • Familiarity with the LEAP case management system.

  • Good communication and organisational skills with an excellent attention to detail.

  • Flexible and dependable, able to take the initiative.

  • Able to remain calm under pressure and work to tight deadlines.

  • Conscientious, approachable, and enthusiastic.

  • Able to quickly build confidence, respect and trust with clients and colleagues.
