Positioned in the UK, this role for a Senior Tax Analyst, specialized in Czech affairs, is a country-specific opportunity within Avalara's Program Compliance team, a vital segment of our International Compliance Operations (ICO). Operating across 5 European countries, our team ensures compliant delivery within ICO by harmonising technical proficiency, business objectives, and risk management.
As you join our diverse team of Senior Tax Analysts, you will directly report to the Senior Tax Manager, extending support to teams across EMEA and India. Your primary responsibility will revolve around Czech tax matters, serving as the central point of contact for both internal and external inquiries pertaining to Czech Republic. Additionally, you'll extend support on tax matters concerning other countries and authorities.
Embracing a culture of continuous enhancement in processes and product advancement, your role will entail close collaboration with CCO functional teams (P, C&CI, Innov8, and L&D). Moreover, fostering synergistic relationships with all filing teams in Brighton and Pune, as well as with Product, Engineering, and Revenue organizations, will be integral to your responsibilities. Our subject matter experts (SMEs) are experienced professionals dedicated to surpassing expectations and propelling organizational excellence.

  • Apply CZ VAT compliance knowledge within ICO team.

  • Correspond with CZ Tax Office for registrations, filings, inquiries, penalties, audits.

  • Train delivery staff, resolve non-compliance.

  • Implement digital solutions for compliance automation.

  • Support internal stakeholders on VAT queries.

  • Manage Avalara entities, liaise with Finance.

  • Assist client submissions, manage escalations.

  • Liaise with external stakeholders, build trust.

  • Handle communication with Tax Authorities, attend audits.

  • Support ICO teams with client and tax authority communication.

  • Prepare SOPs, assist research for Technical & QA Teams.

  • Stay updated on tax laws, share legislative changes.

    Proficient in Czech (reading and writing) for interactions with CZ tax authorities.

  • Knowledgeable in EU VAT (registration, filing, notices).

  • Familiarity with Czech Indirect tax laws.

  • Team-oriented with a focus on customer satisfaction.

  • Fluent in English, adept at listening, asking questions, and clarifying understanding.

  • Optimise productivity and focus on high priority tasks

  • Clarify VAT matters, explain complex VAT concepts and regulations.

  • Establish trust and rapport with clients building positive relationships.

  • Collaborate with colleagues within the team and across different departments.

  • Deadline-driven for all tax filings, reports and other compliance tasks effectively delivered.

  • Experience in data analysis for improving customer experience.

  • Minimum 5 years' VAT compliance experience and relevant bachelor's degree.

  • Potentially part-qualified with a recognised tax or accounting body.
