Lotus is looking to recruit a Quality Engineering & Evaluation Senior Engineer to join our Quality team on a permanent basis. This role will be based at our prestigious manufacturing site in Hethel.

Our aspiration is to develop class leading quality and reliability in our products and processes, applying the latest technologies and approaches in an innovative way, ensuring Quality of product at Launch and continued improvement in serial production.

Reporting the New Product Quality Director this role will be responsible for Implementing robust, proactive Quality Engineering activities during product development phases to drive a right first-time mentality within the business. Ensuring we develop effective, product evaluation activities both in plant and externally during launch which can continue into Production.,

  • Build, lead and develop a team of global quality focussed, enthusiastic individuals who will drive proactive quality activities into the early stages of vehicle programmes.

  • Develop and implement Global Quality Standards for parts, vehicle and systems and embed into the quality processes for inline and offline inspection

  • Implement Software stds quality process to ensure robustness at design stage and set quality process

  • Define and deliver a clear Failure Mode Avoidance strategy in line with the China team and the Geely based systems from concept through to production for future Lotus product

  • Monitor and report activity status to the programme & engineering teams and senior management

  • Define & champion vehicle evaluation activities (QRT/FFB) during the whole product life-cycle, particularly pre-production phases, ensuring all issues are captured and fed back into the programme for resolution

  • Oversee running of Quality Reliability team and activities to ensure all projects deliver their Q Targets on time and to budget

  • Close collaboration with the Current Vehicle Quality Operations Teams in UK and China to define on-going (small series and mass production) vehicle evaluation methods and processes,

  • Manage departmental resource and workload to ensure all project milestones/deliverables are met on time and to budget

    A solid background within the automotive sector supported by formal Engineering Qualifications (Minimum HNC/D);

  • Quality Engineering / Failure Mode Avoidance / Product Evaluation experience.

  • Proven experience of implementing FMA activities within an OEM or Tier 1 automotive environment.

  • Excellent project management skills for timing, resource and cost.

  • Proficient MS office software.

  • Motivated and able to work autonomously & as part of a team.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, written & verbal.

  • Cross functional teamwork skills.


  • Desirable:
  • Engineering Degree or equivalent.

  • Extensive knowledge of vehicle assembly processes & techniques.

  • Experience of Quality Reliability Testing activities at vehicle level.
