Full Job Description

This warm and welcoming school in Sutton is seeking a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. The school caters to pupils aged 4-19 with severe learning disabilities (SLD), some of whom are autistic or have significant social and emotional difficulties. Some students have limited mobility and use wheelchairs, so experience supporting students with physical disabilities is highly desirable.
At this school, you will be part of a very creative and safe learning environment where the well-being of staff is prioritised. You will work alongside a dedicated team of professionals committed to providing exceptional care and education to students. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students' individual needs, including academic, social, emotional, and physical development.

o Experience working with children and young people with Autism/ASC and complex needs (professionally or personally)
o Ideally, have knowledge and experience in supporting students with physical disabilities and mobility issues, including wheelchair users
o May have worked as a care worker or care assistant
o Relevant qualifications and/or degrees such as Health and Social Care, Psychology, Criminology, or Nursing are a plus
o Aspiring educational psychologists, therapists, or educators
o Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and parents
o Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting students with diverse needs
