The Royal Veterinary College (RVC) is seeking to recruit an RVC Shop Manager reporting to the Head of Engagement (Alumni, Community & Public) & Events, within the Directorate of External Relations. The post is based at our Hertfordshire Campus near Potters Bar. Some travel to our London campus in Camden will be required and occasionally to event venues.

The ideal candidate will have a strong grounding in all aspects of retail management ideally with experience in an educational setting. You will be responsible for managing the new RVC shop at our Hawkshead campus with trading deliverables including the university’s range of student uniform together with general RVC merchandise. Responsibilities will include use of electronic point of sale software, online shopping systems and, from time to time, pop-up shops at our other campuses and events. You will be responsible for financial controls and reporting, stock control, supplier negotiations, recruitment, management and training of casual shop staff.

We are looking for a team player who can prioritise work to deadlines and maintain high levels of professionalism (often in a busy environment) and always delivering high levels of customer service. You will need excellent communication skills as well as a proactive, hands-on approach with a ‘people-focused’ outlook and a positive, enthusiastic mindset. We are looking for someone with a commercial outlook able to generate the required financial returns from this operation.
