Full Job Description

This is a temporary role for a minimum of 8 months, joining the Insurance & Risk & Insurance team based in London to cover a project backfill.

The job holder will have key responsibilities across Insurance and will support Enterprise Risk Management ("ERM"). BAT has a sophisticated insurance strategy and advanced approach to ERM. This is a great opportunity for an insurance professional to develop their insurance and ERM skills in a large complex multi-national organisation.

In relation to insurance, the Insurance & ERM Manager will be responsible for the renewal and day to day management of certain of the Global Insurance programmes, including management and collaboration with the Group's chosen brokers and other external service providers.

With regards to Enterprise Risk Management, the job holder will support the identification, measurement, assessment of risk within the group and its reporting to senior leadership. This is a broad area as risk is reviewed regional and functionally and discussed at all levels within the organisation. Engagement with other compliance and control functions will be significant as there is extensive cross-functional collaboration on projects and risk assessment.

As with all organisations, BAT seeks to continually improve output and efficiencies, and therefore the job holder is expected to be able to propose recommendations for process improvements.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

  • Supporting the implementation of the Group's insurable risk strategy.

  • Working with our insurance brokers, and in accordance with the agreed strategy, the role with be responsible for placement and maintenance of certain insurance programmes to ensure efficient, effective and consistent coverage across the group. The exact classes may vary from time to time depending on interest and development needs.

  • Providing support for various risk management initiatives (e.g. Risk Engineering Programme)

  • Providing support for the management of the insurance brokers, including running regular status update meetings to ensure delivery on a timely basis, and to drive improvements to process and delivery.

  • Providing operational and technical escalation point for queries arising from our End Markets. This includes ensuring appropriate and timely response is provided by our brokers where appropriate, or alternatively responding directly to the business, depending on the nature and urgency of the query.

  • Challenging End Markets to ensure compliance with Treasury Policy;

  • Providing support to the Group's ERM activities through delivery of the Regional and Function risk submissions - the exact regions and functions will vary from time to time.

  • Attending risk meetings and where appropriate present on specific topics;

  • Engaging in meetings with various internal and external service providers;

  • Delivering and/or providing ad-hoc support for Insurance and ERM projects as needed.

    Bachelor's Degree;

  • Relevant Finance or Insurance qualification;

  • Previous experience is a similar role;

  • Relevant experience of placing and managing global insurance programmes;

  • Strong Excel, Word and Power Point skills are a pre-requisite;

  • Experience with Captives would be beneficial;

  • Good understanding of global consumer goods business and operating models is desirable;

  • Good facilitation and interpersonal skills is required. The job holder is expected to deliver presentations and lead discussions at a certain level;

  • Awareness of Enterprise Risk Management principles would be beneficial, although not a pre-requisite as full training will be provided in this area;

  • Strong written communication skills and ability to produce high quality documents;

  • Ability to simplify complex situations, synthesise, communicate and present complex information;

  • Ability to manage conflicting deadlines and to be able to manage time effectively;

  • Attention to detail is required due to the complexity of the reports produced.
