Full Job Description

As a Trainee Healthcare Scientist STP, Respiratory Physiology you will be responsible for your own progression through the training programme, for completing the learning outcomes as outlined in the Curriculum Library, progressing through a mixture of work based competence and experience in NHS scientific departments and undertaking the complementary academic master's programme at the designated Higher Education Institution.

Please note that this role is only open to current members of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to work within standard operating policies and procedures of the Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust and the Northern Care Alliance and adhere to high standards of professionalism, health and safety, risk reduction, confidentiality, patient care and dignity, and respect for equality and diversity as set out in the NHS Constitution.

As a Trainee Healthcare Scientist respiratory physiology you will be employed by Cardiorespiratory Investigations at Salford Royal for a fixed term of three years, during which time you will work through a fulltime programme combining work-based learning and a part-time academic programme at master's (MSc) level.

The trainee will undertake the full training programme to progress through the modules of the training scheme. In so doing they will learn how to perform and interpret clinical and specialist scientific processes underpinned by theoretical and applied knowledge and practical experience, We understand the importance of balancing work and home life.   • Knowledge, Training & Experience

    Essential criteria
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting in a Respiratory department

  • Basic knowledge of Respiratory Investigations

  • Knowledge of sleep diagnostics

  • Able to perform routine lung function testing

  • Basic knowledge of Advanced lung function tests, Motivational skills, enthusiastic

  • Good organisational skills including organising workload

  • Good communications skills

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work unsupervised

  • Ability to work flexibly

  • Competent using IT systems including word, excel, email
