Full Job Description

The project manager will plan and oversee the programme of activity to deliver a new website for BAS. Working closely with subject matter experts in IT, Communications, Web and Apps team and web development teams, along with a Product Manager, you will see through the design, development, and delivery of the new website., To meet the project goals, using agile project management methods, will require you to organise people, tasks and resources to bring about a successful website product. Liaising with suppliers, internal and external stakeholders, you will make sure all works are carried out in accordance with best practice, policies and procedures. The project manager will complete a full suite of project documentation throughout the project, enabling a smooth handover to the Communications Team on completion. - Project Setup: Collaborate with the Project Executive to establish the project team, meeting structure, and reporting plan.

- Project Planning: Develop a comprehensive project plan detailing tasks, timelines, and resource requirements for the successful website launch.

- Documentation Management: Define and implement the structure for project documentation.

- Supplier Engagement: Potential to oversee the design and tender stages of the project, ensuring engagement of relevant BAS subject matter experts to meet stakeholder requirements and project deliverables.

- Delivery Management: Ensure timely delivery of project outputs and products meeting agreed quality standards.

-Meeting and Sprint Participation: Participate in project meetings and Agile sprints.

- Stakeholder Engagement: Present project progress and updates to a wide range of stakeholders. Liaise with internal stakeholders (communication team, web experts, content creators, designers, developers) and external suppliers to align and ensure timely delivery of project milestones.

- Budget Management: Manage the project budget effectively.

- Verification of Technical Documents: Manage the independent verification process of technical documents.

- Handover Management: Ensure timely handover of all documentation and products. - Quality Assurance: Implement robust quality assurance processes to ensure the website meets performance, usability, and security standards.

- Resource Management: Manage project resources efficiently, optimizing resource allocation within financial constraints.

- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions and ensure timely project delivery.

- Communication Management: Facilitate clear and transparent communication channels among all project stakeholders, providing regular updates on progress, milestones, and issues.

General

- Take part in planning sessions with the Communications, Web and Apps, and UKRI web teams

- Any other duties as required by the Head of Communications

Relevant project management qualification PRINCE2/APMQ/Agile - please note, this project will be run using Agile methodology.

The British Antarctic Survey (BAS) is looking for a project manager to help us deliver a new website. Our current site is out of date and in desperate need of an upgrade. It needs to be our primary gateway for audiences to engage with us. It's not just a virtual space but a vital platform where we showcase our achievements, share knowledge, and foster collaborations on a global scale.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: £43,116.00-£47,076.00 per year
