Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Project Coordinator to work with us to ensure the smooth running of our day-to-day operations, and on the delivery of key projects and events. These include a new project exploring the potential of AI to reduce the barriers faced by people with different linguistic and communication challenges. The position would be fixed term for 12 months and full time.

Cambridge Language Sciences Interdisciplinary Research Centre (IRC) is a virtual centre which connects a community of more than 250 language researchers at the University of Cambridge. We deliver a range of activities designed to facilitate collaboration between academics from different disciplines and to act as a catalyst for new research.

This is a very varied role which combines events planning and organisation, communications, and core administrative tasks. The role holder will plan and deliver a range of projects, monitor progress and expenditure, and contribute to briefings and reports. Communications responsibilities will include keeping the Language Sciences website up to date, producing an internal newsletter, and acting as one of the main points for Cambridge Language Sciences.

The role holder will work closely with the IRC Manager, Jane Walsh, as well as with the IRC's Directors (Professor Paula Buttery, Dr Matt Davis and Professor Brechtje Post). They will also benefit from being part of a network of colleagues in similar roles supporting interdisciplinary centres and networks at the University of Cambridge.

Applicants should be educated to degree level / Level 6 vocational qualification or have an equivalent level of practical experience. Some previous experience in project management, financial administration, and communications is essential. Familiarity with University of Cambridge systems and administration would be an advantage.
