Full Job Description

To help us recruit social workers who are committed to working in Middlesbrough we are currently offering a 10% supplement to social work salaries. This additional 10% will be reviewed at the end of March 2025.

The team works with people with a learning disability from the age of 18 years. The work is varied, demanding and very rewarding. As a principal practitioner you will be expected to hold a small caseload of people with complex needs and behaviour that challenges, who might be living at home with parents, in supported living, residential placements or mental health hospitals.

As a principal practitioner you will undertake supervisions of staff, provide case guidance and work closely with the team manager. You will be working alongside many different partners within Health, the voluntary and charitable sector and with children's services and education for those young people coming through transitions into adult social care.

We are looking for someone who is creative and can think outside the box, someone who can look at different ways of working to bring efficiencies and better outcomes for people using our services.

The team is based in newly refurbished offices in Middlesbrough. You will receive regular supervision, access to training and development and the opportunity to make a difference.

Middlesbrough council offers the opportunity for blended working, and we are committed to supporting our staff by providing a healthy and positive work culture.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Social Worker looking to progress and gain management experience in a learning disability and transitions team. You will hold a social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England.

Applications for the post are invited from individuals who are committed to demonstrating the values of Middlesbrough Council.
